What Customers Say About Xbox 360 Pro 60GB Console:

I've cursed at the controller more times than I want to remember. As a result, I've started to migrate to the PS3 for my high-definition gaming; it's just a much more reliable and quality piece of hardware than the 360. And these aren't minor, various repairs. Every single person I personally know that owns a 360 has had to send theirs back to Microsoft for repairs. I'll probably end up selling my 360 and games if the console dies again. This has led to far too many unintentional steps off of ledges to impending doom. Live Achievements make gaming addictive again much like video gaming's early years, and the friend system is far superior to anything else. It's a shame Microsoft's hardware skills are just as bad as their software skills.

I'm on my third unit and I can already see that I'm going to have to send it in soon. It's a complete hardware failure that prevents you from turning on or using the console for more than 5 minutes before it just stops working. Various visual artifacts are appearing all over the screen and after 10 minutes of trying to make out what's going on it locks up.The next problem is noise. This is one loud gadget. Let's start with the problems with Microsoft's latest entry into the video game market. Out of the box, my controller's left analog stick drifts north. So to get my on-screen characters to stop from slowly creeping forward I have to lightly pull back on the stick.

The directional pad also suffers from poor build quality. It's incredibly inaccurate and unusable. The PS3 and Wii, by comparison, are just about silent. These repairs are for one issue only: the Red Ring of Death. It's silent, runs cool, never locks up, and just feels more solid than the hardware the shoddy engineers at Microsoft have come up with.As for the good things about the 360, the software lineup is great (Left 4 Dead is awesomely addictive) and the Xbox Live service is a fantastic experience.

From the fans that spin up to full speed when you turn it on to the jet engine sound when the DVD drive is in use, you will have to crank up your sound to drown out the 360's moving parts. It's unfortunate because the noise really removes you from the experience the games are trying to create.Last problem lies with the controller. The exclusives in Live Arcade are also stellar (Rez HD). Three strikes and you're out.

I'll have to admit I don't play a lot of PS3 so I can't give a completely unbiased review, but personally, I feel the game library for the 360 is much larger with better exclusives. Overall, both systems are great. I've heard a lot of people have hardware problems with this console but they are more and more rare now since Microsoft has corrected the problem and even extended the warranty just in case. I can honestly say this is the one of the best consoles I have ever owned. I've had a 360 since they were first released and still have no problems. I feel its a bit more informative and a bit more fun to use then Sony's trophy system.

My room mate owns the game on his PS3 and I remember every few days his game would crash, whereas I would never experience that problem on my 360.Finally I love comparing myself to my gamer friends using Microsoft's achievement system.

Also, with the games that are available on both platforms, if you read reviews of both versions, the 360 versions are usually rated slightly higher.

I'm a real big fan of the Microsoft software, so I'll end up sticking with my 360.

I've been a big gamer most of my life, starting off with Commodore 64, then moving up through all the Nintendo systems, including the Wii, and finally up to the 360.

It really all comes down to personal preference.

One such example is Fallout 3.

the graphics a little more crisp and has much fewer crash bugs than the PS3.

As far as hardware problems are concerned.

so I guess I'm one of the lucky few.

Just so it is clear, if you order this from Amazon you are NOT GETTING THE NEW VERSION despite how it is listed here. I purchased this Xbox from amazon, they shipped me a console with the old Falcon chipset and a manufacturer date of early 2008. This version "The falcon chipset" is prone to the red ring of death error, and I would reccomend you stay away from it and go buy a console from a physical store. BE WARNED THE "NEWEST VERSION" tag IS FALSE. I called amazon, and they shipped me a replacement which was also a old Falcon chipset still manufactured in early 2008. After talking with amazon, it was evident they did not understand the difference between the chipsets and didn't understand that what they were selling was not the newest version by any means. The customer service individual i spoke with assured me they would remove the "Newest Version" tag after I pointed out the error, but chances are that it will not be removed.

Microsft make it cheap after august. It was the falcon chip that was in the xbox 360 that make me want to get one.But i glad i did it was great, the console have no e704 and red ring of death in 8 month after i got it.No problem with the console that i have.

Sure, the arcade model is only priced at [.]. When you brake it down it's 4.16 a month. I'm not sure if amazon's run out of falcon units or I just got lucky, but the model I received in the mail today was a jasper unit (adapter says 150W output and amp output is 12.1V). There's tons of multiplayer games available for the 360 which is where the benefit of being connected to xbox live is the greatest.I'm sure everyone's heard of the RROD issue and the E74 error code and the loud fan and the disc scratching problems. By the time you do that, the price will be close to equal with the pro. This configuration already comes with a 60gb hdd so you don't have to go thru the trouble of buying and installing a hdd yourself. If you're getting ready to buy a 360 or your just pondering at the idea than let me just say that this is the one to get. With Xbox live, you can stream netflix movies (except for blu-ray format) directly to your tv instantly.

The disc scratching problem can be easily avoided by not moving your xbox when there's a game inside and there's a sticker right on the disc tray that says that. If you can't afford that than you can't afford to play video games. However, if this model does happen to fail on you, it's covered by a 3yr warranty so there's really nothing to fear anymore.Overall, you have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain by purchasing this model. It seems that the 360 controller was specifically designed for FPS games but that's fine by me because I play a lot of FPS's. but you're going to need a hdd sooner or later and from what i've read and hear, they're a pain in the butt to install and they're expensive. Those problems were happening most on the zephyr and falcon models and are supposed to be least likely on the jasper models.

Considering that I just got this today, the only game i've played so far is L4D and i'm very pleased with how comfortable the controllers are. Xbox Live- Well worth the 50.00 a year. The fan isn't that loud with the jasper model and when you have a game going you can't hear it at all which is all that matters.
